Que el avance tecnológico ha permitido la implementación de numerosos servicios y el acceso de los consumidores a los mismos en el marco del desarrollo y la expansión de las redes con protocolo IP y la masificación del acceso fijo y móvil a la red Internet por parte de amplios sectores de la población.

The Argentine Data Protection Agency moves forward a bill to reform the Argentine Data Protection Act

The Argentine Data Protection Agency (“Dirección Nacional de Protección de Datos Personales” or “DNPDP”) has issued a press release stating that it has sent to the National Ministry of Justice and Human Rights a draft bill for a new regulation on data protection (the “Bill”), in order to replace Act No. 25,326 (the “Argentine Data Protection Act” or “ADPA”) as well as Act No. 26,951 (“Do Not Call Registry Act”). The Bill is the result of the reflection period that the DNPDP proposed during 2016, which culminated with a summary of the opinions from the community on which aspects the ADPA and the Do Not Call Registry Act should improve.

The National Direction of Data Protection gives the initial kick off for an amendment of the Data Protection Act

On June 3, 2016, the National Direction of Data Protection (Dirección Nacional de Protección de Datos Personales or “NDDP”) issued press release related to an amendment proposal of Law No. 25,326 (“Data Protection Act” or “DPA”). The amendment is proposed due to the technological changes that have taken place since the enactment of the DPA as well as on the experience gather by the NDDP and the international legislation changes, mainly the recent Regulation of Data Protection of the European Union. The amendment aims to modify 4 topics currently present on the DPA and to introduce 4 topics that are not on the DPA.
