Diego Botana

He obtained his law degree from the Universidad de Buenos Aires in 1994 and a Masters in Law (LL.M.) from Duke University in 1997. He was a Visiting Scholar in Columbia University in the Spring Semester 2018, and he obtained his Ph.D. in Constitutional Law from the Universidad de Buenos Aires in 2019.

He has been practicing law as a Partner of the firm since 2001. Before that, he worked as an Associate of the firm since he obtained his law degree.

He specializes in general corporate practice, with special focus on commercial law, restructurings and shareholders litigation, mergers and acquisitions, cross border contracts, debt workouts, bankruptcy and reorganization. He also focuses in matters related to Constitutional Law.

He acted as expert witness in the Bankruptcy Courts of the City of New York, in matters involving argentine bankruptcy law.

He is a regular Law Professor in the “Universidad de San Andrés”. He teaches courses related to Constitutional Law.

He has been designated as member of a Commission to review and propose amendments to the Civil and Commercial Code of the Argentine Republic (Decree #182/2018).

Ha has been appointed as alternate Judge of the Federal Supreme Court of the Argentine Republic (Decree #1017/2018).

He has been invited as lecturer in conferences and courses, and has published articles and comments on law journals and other publications.

He is a member of the Bar Association of the City of Buenos Aires and Banking Lawyers Committee.

He has been cited as a leading practitioner in Corporate and Mergers & Acquisitions law by, among others, Latin Lawyer 250 and The Best Lawyers in Argentina.
